Why Personal Hygiene matters
Why Personal Hygiene matters
Good hygiene prevents skin breakdown, infections, and discomfort. It also protects confidence and social connection—people feel better seeing friends when they feel fresh. When routines slip, small issues (dry skin, irritation, odor) can become bigger problems like rashes, pressure sores, or urinary infections.
This module helps an older adult keep up with everyday hygiene—bathing or sponge-bathing, oral care, hair and skin care, and dignified toilet support—so they feel clean, comfortable, and in control. It’s gentle, predictable, and person-led. The temperature is right, privacy is respected, needed items are within reach, and unhurried help is available for tricky steps (like washing feet, trimming nails, or toileting safely at night).
Our approach
We set a simple, repeatable routine at the preferred time of day. We break tasks into small steps, offer choices, and adapt for mobility or cognitive changes. We coach family or staff on safe techniques, and we track comfort signals—cold, fatigue, dizziness—to keep sessions short and safe.
Safety first
We never force care. We use non-slip mats, grab bars, and a second helper when needed. Any new skin wounds, strong odors, fever, or pain are flagged for a nurse or GP per your instructions.
